Default Hiwassee River on Fire Today

Started the day by meeting with Dean Tullock @ the fly shop - Hiwassee Anglers. Checked the generation schedule, bought some flies, almost bought a Helios - maybe next time Dean.

Dean recommended the absolute "Best" spot on the river given the conditions of a front moving in with a lot of rain and wind.

Brought at least 30 to hand on a Walter Babb Royal Stimulator AND Bamboo Rod. Thank you Dean for a Great Spring Day with just a few hours on my hands to spare!!!! Thank You Walter for more enjoyment than is room here to type!!!!

I'm not a Tailwater guy, but with fish this size and the numbers.....how can a guy resist!!!!

All the fish today exploded from the water on a dry fly before the rain moved in.

Thank You,
Breck

My best days on the Hiwassee were in April with a front in the area and rain showers. Hard to beat it! Thanks for the report!

Breck,
Glad you are getting out in the boat. Maybe I will hit you up for a trip one day. Great report and pictures.

The Hiwassee has really turned into a great water these days. To be 20 minutes away from the interstate......kind difficult to pass it up and travel 2 - 3 hrs.

I didn't fly fish it in its Great Days, but find it hard to be better than the fishing has been since I started fishing it three years ago.

Anyone not having fished the Hiwassee and need info please let me know. I'll put you in touch with the River Keeper. Dean Tullock and Steve Bryson know it as good as you need to.

Joe - Fred has some excellent maps of the river as well, at the fly shop and on-line. Thy're excellent maps for someone new to the area.

Any time any of youguys above.....are my way, I keep the boat at the fly shop let me know.

Your more than welcome.

Breck

Wow. You are making the most of that great watercraft.

Dean should have the maps on weatherproof paper in stock. You can order the regular paper version at lesser cost (or weatherproof) at smokystreams.com/maps/tennessee. Paper version can normally be mailed the next business day.

Thanks, Breck. I still want to guide you to the South Holston one day. That's to it. I can put you in contact with some folks that can better guide you on it.
