Default Aluminum soles any good?

I'm thinking about getting some Alumitrax soles for my Korker boots. If they stick to rocks as good as an aluminum canoe, they should work.

Simms also has a sole option with aluminum plates on it. Does anyone have experience with either of these soles? How do they compare to spikes?

I have tried them and stud cleats. It seemed like they helped at times; but, at other times they were cumbersome. I guess I noted the odd things like the clank with my steps on rocks and the stiffness. If you get them; I would look at the removable options.

I've heard that the guides like then because they don't tear up their boats. I haven't heard of many unbiased opinions of how they do on slippery rocks. Thanks for your input.
