Default Sycamore Creek 8/22/14

I know this is a couple days late but I haven't had a chance to post it. I decided to head towards Tellico Friday and escape the heat and find some brookies. I hit up Sycamore Creek around 12ish and hit a couple holes downstream and booked it up the trail to the spec water. The water was low as expected. But I had a decent day overall. Brought maybe 25 or so to hand. The majority of fish taken were on dries. Either a small stimulator or a foam yellow Sally I tie. The fish didn't like the Neversink as they would just slap it and wouldn't take it just right. Most likely because of a bad drift lmao but none the less it was a good day.

Some of the brookies are coloring up nicely.

But every single on of the rainbows that I caught that were of measurable size, were absolutely stuffed. Prolly full of some BIG stonefly nymphs. I found some big ones on tellico the week before.

Nice looking fish! I need to explore that area sometime. Thanks for sharing your report.

Nice work and pics. BTW... I've been seeing those stonefly nymphs up above Elkmont on Little River. Haven't seen a great pattern for them yet... but I'm looking.

These giant things! Lol a tellico nymph would be what I would use. I caught some on tellico river last weekend on Tellico nymphs. But I caught a good number on girdle bugs. Green/black with black legs and I caught some on a green with white legs. I did surprisingly well with them.

Honestly I'm more familiar with the Tellico area than I am the GMSNP. And the park is closer.
