Default Stalking Trout in Utah

Well I'm headed out to Utah in September for a business conference. Going to be there in the Salt Lake/ Park City area a few days before my conference starts and I am hoping to get into some trout. Haven't been out to Utah yet. I hear that stalking trout out west is a bit different than here in Tennessee. Hoping I can get some useful info here in the forum. Any help will be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

It is a drive from the area you will be in, but the Green River tailwater below Flaming Gorge Reservoir is one of the best trout streams in the entire country, probably even in the entire world. I haven't fished it for a few years so I cannot give you current info, but September should still have some great hopper action going on. Do a quick Google search on fishing there and you should turn up some stuff. If you are into camping, let me know and I can give you more info on where to stay close to the river and even give some ideas on where to fish.

Closer to where you are staying, I would look into fishing the Provo River as it is supposed to be a quality brown trout fishery. There is a lot of great fishing in Utah so hopefully you will enjoy yourself!

I'm with David on the Green River. It is beautiful and probably the best trout fishing I've ever encountered. I've floated it several times over the years with a guide. Never did much wading there. We usually went in May and September. Blue Wing Olives in May, clouds of them. Big foam flies and streamers in September. That's where I would go.
