Talking Awesome video about effect of Hemlock loss

Many times while fly fishing in a beautiful remote Smokies location I would wonder what would replace the Hemlock graveyard I was looking at. Now I know that Tulip Poplar, Red Maple, and Sweet Birch will be the main replacers of the canopy, and was horrified to know that the Rhodo is the only real winner and will continue to overtake things. Crazy to think that Hemlocks buffered up to 20% of Winter precipitation, and that the renewal of hardwood species would have negative effects.

It's 44 minutes long and a bit technical, but gives much explanation to the changes we observe while fishing in the Smokies.
