I have never been to #24. Looking at the map it looks as though there is a parking area at Elkmont at the Little River trailhead. Is this correct?

Yes, it is a nice large parking area. Can't miss it.

Ok, thanks. Sounds like a safer place to leave truck than some of the trailheads.

I would consider it a very safe parking area.
There is a ranger station right down the road at the campground, & there are some park maintenance-type buildings just past the parking lot near the Jake's creek trailhead, so Park employees are always driving up and down the road.

I have been fishing that area for over 40 years and have never had any problems with leaving my car there....but as with every where else....a little common sense works wonders. Not a hard walk to #24 from there...would go there early in the season since it seems that once the campsite starts getting used it is just a matter of time before the bears realize this and move in....and when this happens they ususally shut down the campsite for a while.
