Default Smallmouth Fever #2

Decided to take my fly fishing to another level by chasing smallmouth for the first time on a fly rod.

It was only appropriate to give Josh Pfeiffer a call and set up a trip. Our first trip was cancelled because of the storm that was coming in last week. Thankfully, Josh being the Top Notch Guide he is, recommended we reschedule and so we did.

This morning we met and he was there waiting. We swapped stories and his plan for the day, which he had already scouted the water before arriving to meet us to make sure the stretch we fished wasn't muddy from rain last night.

His shuttle driver was waiting on us. Shortly we were on the water and Smallmouth Fever immediately started.

Having only fished for trout I wasn't prepared for the professional instruction I was about to get. The choice of water, flies, presentation was completely different for smallmouth than fishing for trout.

Looking back at today, here's what I got from a Professional Local Guide:

-Great call on when to be on the water for great results.
-On time and geared up ready to fish with support personnel waiting on us.
-Immediate instruction that led to a great day of fishing and The smallmouth of a Lifetime!!!
-Excellent stream side lunch.
-All the great advice you could ask for and great passion for smallmouth fly fishing.

Josh, you are a Great Guide and I will recommend anyone I know that wishes to pursue fly fishing and smallmouth to you. Thank you for your passion and generosity today!!!!

My buddy , Sonny, that I invited got the first of many hook ups today.

My first fish after being on the water 5 minutes.

A friends love for fishing.

They just kept getting larger.

My largest smallmouth to date, 5 + lbs, 20 + inches.

Made Josh hold my fish because he had everything to do with my smallmouth accomplishments this day. Thank You Josh!!!!

Give Josh a call. You won't regret it!!!!

Thank You,

Breck

Talking

Like you needed another reason to never leave your drift boat again Your ruined

Your poor Simms wading boots that you used to love so much, now just sitting there lonely in your closet

Thanks for the post

Not sure why you guys bailed on Wednesday as it turned out to be a great day. Freddie and I had a great day on some Brookie water after sampling Middle Prong of the Pigeon with the Park Service that morning. Forgot my camera (charged it just forgot to pack it) so no report.

I still need to get with you so I can give my new 8wt a try

Keep the reports coming, and I'll remember my camera this week

Ducky forgot the camera so no pictures. I just don't see BigSur letting that slide.

Where in Tennessee was this Smallmouth heaven taken place? Does Josh Pfeiffer have a Outfitters business or an independent guide? Is there somewhere we can get in contact with him at? Thanks for the post and pictures.

Breck,
I had a great time with you and Sonny and I'm glad you guys had a good time too. I'm already looking forward to the next time on the water. I don't know anyone that loves fishing streamers as much as you. Hats off for throwing that broom stick all day too. Thanks again for the kind words.

David,
Thanks man, we need to get out soon.

Thnuderhead,
Thanks for the plug in.

That river seems to be fishing good! I have not been able to make it over there this year. The hard part is catching fish like that consistently without a guide telling you where and how to fish! very nice first trip.
