Default mountain bikes

I read somewhere that mountain bikes (non-motorized) are not allowed on the trails in the GSMNP. Is this true for the whole park ?

Mountian bikes are not allowed on the back country trails. Refer to the link below.

actually mountain bikes are not allowed on any trails other than the Gatlinburg Trail and the Oconoluftee Trail (which are also the only pet allowed trails in the park). The nantahala and big south have biking trails.

Thanks for the info. I got mine st up to carry rod(s) whhich works pretty well but it doesn't sound like it's worth bringing it down from here in Connecticut because I want to focus on fishing, not biking.

Mountain bikes are also allowed up the first section of Deep Creek trail (second bridge).

If it isn't a major issue getting it down here, It might be beneficial fishing Little River along the road between Elkmont and Townsend ??, parking is usually taken up by siteseers, etc. If a person wants to move from "hole to hole" or are constantly coming into fished waters. I'm just tossing that out as a suggest. I prefer to get away from the roads, even though realizing that some of the best water is along them.

We fished last Thursday, Friday and Saturday in the park. Parking was not an issue until Saturday and I would have loved to had mobile, parkable transportation where the sightseers were parking. They have just as much right to the parking places as we have and the nice weather brought all of us out to compete for those spots. I had never thought about this option before but I sure will in the future. Kytroutbum, you read my mind on the area you suggested. Now I just need to get back down from here in Indiana.

Great question treecatcher, gary <*))))><
