I camped in Cosby this weekend and fished the Cosby/Greenbrier area. This was the first time that I had fished these streams. On Saturday I fished Ramsey's Cascade and had a very enjoyable day. The fishing was fair but I was surprised at the quality of the fish that I caught. I caught both Brookies and Rainbows. The stream is very rugged and required a lot of rockclimbing. The trip ended by having a mother bear mock charge me! Very exciting!!
I fished Greenbrier on the way out near the Ranger station and caught a lot of Rainbows but most of them were dinks(3-4") On Sunday morning I fished Cosby near the campground and caught a few small fish. I moved down lower and had good luck with some nice rainbows. It was just a beautiful weekend in the mountains and I am glad I got out before the storm hit. |

Thanks for the report Baldeagle.
The fish may have been small, but it sounds like you had a bear of a time! (all puns intended) DryFly1
