Regaining Confidence

After a fairly slow day in the mountains on Friday, I was looking to catch a bunch of fish. I noticed that the generators would finally be off on the Caney and decided to head down Sunday morning. I was lazy and didn’t get to the river until around 9:30. I saw plenty of fish working right away and some midges hatching so I tied on my trusty zebra midge and started catch fish right away. I never had to try another fly the whole time. There were some good sized browns working that I watched for awhile but they never ate what I was throwing. I probably caught about 50/50 ‘bows and browns which was nice since I normally catch more ‘bows. The best fish of the day was a nice brown right around 16 inches. Anyway, enough talking and on to some pictures…

It was an absolute blast. I wasn't sure how well the rod would be able to work the larger fish, but it stood up nicely to the brown. Best of all, I could put a lot more pressure on the fish without worrying about a breakoff! 8-)

Looks like you had a great time. I'll be living in Nashville soon and probably spending a lot of time on that river. I've never fished it, but i suppose it'll be my best option.

I was driving back from Nashville this morning and it was like deja vu....seems like the interstate crosses that river about 10 times.

ah ha, i see where you were in the pic, we fished up around the dam, caught nothing but bows, a friend using a grey midge caught some browns out of another boat.
We did about as good when the water came up throwing clousers & floating down with the flow, which s what the schedule looks like it's going to be for awhile

Grumpy, I'm going to have to be a little more careful about my pics so I don't give away that super secret hole... By the way, is there any way to get an estimate of the upcoming flows further out than just the next day? I know they are lowering the lake for dam repairs or something but it would be nice to have more windows soon...

It looks as though they are going to cut the flow in half for the weekend, in other words, some half day windows like last weekend.
