Need suggestions on night time fishing for browns?

I just read a short story by Gierach where he talks about fishing at night and was wondering the same myself. I know fishing at night is not allowed in the park, but have any of you ever done any night fishing elsewhere?

I haven't done this yet myself but would love to go out at night during a full moon and throw some mouse patterns... If you try going fishing at night, make sure you are VERY familiar with where you are fishing to avoid getting yourself in any dangerous situations.

Do mouse patterns work for the browns in the area tailwaters? I have been wondering, but this is the first I have actually heard of anyone else mentioning it.

Haven't done alot of it. *But here are a few things that should make your nocturnal sojourn a little easier.

1. *Use red lens on flashlight- *to maintain night vision
2. *Scout out the area you *are going to fish for dead fall etc, before you go, your wallet will love you and your night will be more productive.
3. *Make sure it is Legal!
4. *If you are scared of the dark,well, noise is amplified X 100 * at *night.
5. *Don't be afraid to go BIG- Just hold on
6. *Shorten your cast or at least practice at night to get a feel for how much line you have out.
7. *Larger water will prevent you from making all those tree donations.
8. *Lots of critters come out to play at night- Be prepared
9. *Take a friend
10. *Mouse patterns do work

We are planning to try to hit the next full moon... will be fishing deeper waters in a gheenoe down the elk river.

I went night fishing on the white river, AR. Make sure you know the generation schdule, and it helps to be familiar with the place you are fishing because you dont want to use your light unless you need too. Get a head lamp also so you can have both your hands. The best part is that no one else is on the river.

oh & use 22 snakeshot, it ain't as likely to blow a hole in the boat like a shotgun would
