Sipsey fork AL fishing report

I made my first trip to the sipsey fork Saturday (1-27). The midges were active. My catching was slow in the morning (zip), but picked up considerably after lunch (7 to hand, 3 ldr's). All fish were caught on midges, and all were released. I talked to several folks who were leaving while I was eating my sandwich at the truck, and they also reported slow mornings. The surface temperature warmed in the afternoon, maybe the water did also.

Positive:
It was great having all the room for backcasts.
The people I spoke with were all nice.

Negative:
The minimum flow needs to be increased. The sipsey gives new meaning to the term "long drifts". I enjoy the challenge of slow water, but just a little more flow would help. I'm glad to see from other posts that this is being discussed.

Overall, I enjoyed my trip to the sipsey, and I will return soon.

cast,sorry i missed you.we must have been fishing further up river than you.i asked everyone i saw if they were driving a red truck but no luck.i stayed up river all afternoon kinda close to the dam.let me know when you come back,fishing will really start to pick up soon.

Hey Dale,

I was kinda thinking you might be there, sorry I missed you also. I never made it all the way up to the dam. I went in right past the pumping station, and fished up and around the first bend going upriver.
Thought about going by the flyshop on my way out about 4:30, but was just too tired and supper was calling me home. I'll be back on the first good weekend, maybe we could hook up then.

I was supposed to meet my fishing buddy there and i knew right to find him.i didn`t use one of the trails and snuck up on him and kinda scared him.it was funny.anyway,come back and fish and visit the flyshop,they`re good folks.
