I looked at the Simms also, but they seemed to run too narrow for me.

Griff,
I have very wide feet, 13 too. I tried on the Simms Guide boots, I think, and it seemed that they had a wider toe box than the other boots. Freestone can get a little tight in the winter with two pairs of socks on!

Chota SLT.......I absolutely love these boots and they are as comfortable as most of my broken in hiking boots.......

DogHair,
I have had a pair of Simm's guide boots for about 4 years. They are extremely comfortable. Last weekend the heel peeled away from the sole. I glued around the heel and fired 6 1 1/2" screws into the leather. My teenage son walked by and walked by as the Dewalt was working and exclaimed "Raucous", which I think means in my language "cool".... Anyway it worked all Sunday afternoon, until I can get some more ordered. I need to call LRO this weekend.

I'm just going to have to try on a few pairs. I'll give the Chota STL a good look. The QuickLace system looks appealing. It's always been a pain lacing up my other pair.

doghaircaddis...

STL's rock! *They are, without a doubt, the most comfortable wading boot I have ever owned.

btw: I posted on this thread because I noticed your signature line...I love it! *Imagine Byron's consternation...He has to say, "Girlfriend (because we still call each other "girlfriend" and "boyfriend" even after 13 years of marriage), You like flyfishing as much as I do!"

Get that girl to fishin! *

Hey do you guys know if Chota makes regular shoes too? Seems like Ive seen Chota hiking sandals or hiking boots or something like that. That name sounds familiar too. If their wading boots are that comfortable then theyve got somethin going for them..

Doghaircaddis:
I think my lab has said your signature line to me before. Started taking her fishin', yep, shes a trout bum.
