Default Connecticut

I am heading to Connecticut for a conference in mid October and hoped to wet a line while I am there. I have never been in that area but from what I have read it seems they have good trout water in the northwest corner of the state and good saltwater along the coast. I must choose between the fresh and the salt. If anyone has been fishing in that area I would appreciate any recommendations. Thanks

If you are staying in the Hartford area, The Farmington river would be your closest. Excellent trout tailwater fishery and very scenic. If you are staying in the southwest part of the state, ie. Fairfield, Bridgeport, then I would head out for the Housatonic for some awsome trout fishing. Can't go wrong with either. Just make sure to bring some warm clothes to layer up for cool mornings! There are countless other small streams to fish for trout in, that see a whole lot less pressure, but the two I listed are best bets, and you will fisd a wealth of info on them via Google. You might even want to try the Salmon river in central CT. Check special regs for the Atlantic Salmon availability.

Thanks for the info. The conference is at the Mohegan Sun in Uncasville but I will fly into Hartford and probably stay there a night and hit the Farmington. It looks nice from what I have seen and read. I have never fished for salmon and that does look fun too. Thanks again.
