Default Bald River

Has anyone fished the Bald River lately? Is the drought worse there than the Smokies?

Here's the link for the USGS streamflow data for the Tellico. I haven't been over there since spring but I have noticed over the last several weeks that they've seemed to be getting more afternoon showers/storms down in the Tellico Plains vicinity and points south. Lots of times Blount county got very little rainfall and the other TN counties to its immediate south and southwest got quite a bit...

I've been really getting a Bald River "itch" myself lately. Looking forward to hitting it this fall...

I was there last weekend and fished around Holly Flats. This was my first time on the Bald, but by no means my first time around the area. I picked up four small rainbows on the first few casts. Despite the low water, it appeared to be a good day. Was I ever wrong. My fishing buddy and I did not catch another fish the rest of the day. We managed to catch about 50 creek chubs in 9 hours of fishing. I saw very few fish and tried a variety of tactics and flys. It is a great area, but I could not make it produce. We went relatively far away from the camp sites both upstream and downstream with no avail. Maybe the rain this week has helped. Lets hope so. If you go I hope you have better luck.
