I found the smallmouth bite to be tailing off yesterday but the Carp were more than willing to play.
The first was on a 6wt with a sinktip and a small streamer. It measured out at 28". The other carp were on Fenwick 7wt Fiberglass and a Martin 67ssa reel. This is my "retro" outfit both built in the "70s" I had showed Paula at the shop this gear and she said I was going "retro". It works for me! ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Beautiful pics, looks like you squeezed in a little time there this weekend. I slipped out to the pond a while yesterday, first time in 3 weeks. Caught a few Bluegill, Bass wouldn't play there either. Tight lines.-Bran

Nice catch man, but i think those are buffalo. my hats off to you because i think they're harder to catch on the fly.

I think your right. I went over to TWRA's region 4 fish ID and it sure looks more like a Buffalo rather than the common carp. I found them schooled up in a shallow flat on a local tailwater. I got above them and was able to site fish the bigger ones. You really had to put it on their nose. They really had that Martin click pawl screaming.
