Default Deep smallies

I'm planning on driving down to E. tenn. in mid dec. and am debating between the car [40 mies per gal.] and my truck [12 mpg but I bring my kayak.] I was wondering if fishing sinking lines and weighted flies work in the reservoirs. I generally use 300 or 35o gr. lines and fish clousers and crays tied with 1/8 to1/4 oz. dumbells. Occasionally I use lc-13 shooting heads, but the'yre hard to cast sitting down . Do I have a chance at some smallies? Any suggestions as to where or what or how would be greatly appreciated. In my neck of the woods they are just about dormant by mid- dec. Thanks

The gear sounds about right. Kayak deal is up to you. There are places you need one and places you don't. Where are you planning on fishing? It would definitely give you more options if you brought your kayak.

I haven't any set plans. I've looked at the south holston, norris and cherokee and watauga res. because of fishing in the tailwaters. This trip I want to see if I can find some smallmouth fishing instead of concentrating on trout. I know I could catch fish on plastic or crankbaits but I hung them up a long time ago. I just haven't the vaugest clue about water temps, forage etc.. in december. I'd probably go fish anyone's reasonable suggestion.

Hey Blue,
Go to my website at the link below and e-mail me through the contact form. I will give you some advice. Have some personal favorite places that I just don't want everyone reading about due to fishing pressure. But it's not like you can fish them every week since you live so far away.

I get it, if I use flies tied with juvenile eagle feathers in october, I won't have to visit in dec. Thanks.
