Question Tip of Fly Line Sinking

The tip of my fly line to leader connection is not floating like when new. I assume this may be because the tip has become water logged.
What, if any, is the down side to cutting off 6 to 8 inches of line and tying on the leader.

Probably everyone cuts back an inch or so here and there, but before cutting back that much, I'd try sealing the tip with some zap-a-gap.

Default Second that Zap a gap....

IR, I think I'd try the sealing first...if anything before you go a cuttin 6"-8" off, check to make sure you aren't gettin in to the front taper due to a cumulation of Bakers inch or two here...you might effect the turn over.

Just my opinion...I could be and, usually am, wrong...just ask my wife

Some lines have a longer taaper on the front end & you'll be OK cutting 6-8" off. I'd cut as little off as possible & use Loons Knot Sense or my favorite, Pliobond, it stays flexible & seals, great for knicks in the line as well.
The only problem with cutting to much on some lines, you'll get into the heavier taper & have some splashy cast if you're not careful.

In a pinch, I've seen folks use some nail polish to seal the tip
