Default Little River Smallmouth

I just talked to John Mollish who owns River John's. He has a canoe livery and campground business on the Little River. He offers 1 day floats for 7 miles of fantastic fishing and sightseeing. His website says they open May 1st but you can actually use his canoe service much earlier. Wait until the water is at least 55 degrees. His canoes are Old Town ABS for quiet stealth. For $40 two people can enjoy the Little River's lower stretches. He provides everything except the cooler and fishing gear. Here's his link.

Sounds like a splendid day, even for someone who was just paddling.

Hi Rocky,

Sounds like a guiding business to me.

Default Trip

From some of the smallmouth pics I have seen on this forum, sounds like a great trip for a couple of people. Can't beat the price for boat rental.

Default Little river smallmouth.

I've used this service several times and he has a nice set up. Nice day float and having someone to do your shuttle makes it easy. We have always brought our own boats but a canoe would be a nice way to go and the rate is very reasonable. Caught smallmouth and a ton of bluegill on small poppers. Most of the smallmouth were caught on white streamers. Fun float.

Its a nice float. I have a friend who guides it out of his star raft. Great way to enjoy the river, He rows and you fish!

Since 9/11 the ramp at the Alcoa water plant has been closed. The city is going to move the fence in the next two months and re-open the ramp. River John's is going to offer a float from his place down to there and it is also around 7 miles. I'm looking forward to that. I bet there will be a lot less pleasure boaters on that float.

I'll have to check this one out, a lot easier than hauling my canoe all the way out on the interstate. Thanks--Bran
