New Sage "Click" Reels
The new reels from Sage are beautiful and simple. And they are extremely light. The minute we saw them Daniel and I went crazy over them. I seems they were made for the newest lighest rods that have come ont the market lately. The strip out and retrieve are smooth with a wonderful clicking sound that is the perfect pitch in both directions. These reel are made for trout and panfish. There is no disk drag, only a clicker that is adjustable. The finish is remarkable, the porting is perfect and you will call this reel "sweet". I've seen a lot of new reels lately. This is one I would actually like to buy.

Best of the Fishing Report by Byron Begley
The fishing report began as a quick look at fishing conditions and information that anglers need before making a decision whether to drive to the Smokies and fish. They would learn what flies are working and at what elevation the fishing was best. Even though I live here I hardly ever go to Cades Cove. Why? I hate driving in heavy traffic. That's one of the reasons I moved here. Then came along Cades Cove Heritage Tours, a non-profit organization offering tours of the Cove in fuel efficient clean vehicles. I went on one of the tours before this organization opened recently. I enjoyed it. And I got to see everything without concentrating on driving. Future options may include an angler shuttle to Abrams Creek. Now wouldn't that be great? We need to support these folks.

Have you heard about Troutfest?
Troutfest is a Fly Fishing Exposition held in Townsend. It is a project of the Little River Chapter of Trout Unlimited and other conservation organizations. Money raised from Troutfest benefits Great Smoky Mountains National Park fisheries projects. Lefty Kreh, Joe Humphreys and Bob Clouser will be here next year. It will be held May 15, 16 and 17, 2009.
