We started holding fly tying classes in 1994. Walter Babb and Byron Begley decided to take the classes to a new level. Together they developed full color textbooks using their acquired photography skills and step by step, leave out no detail method of writing. The classes were always full in the winter and soon the team changed. Brian Courtney started teaching with Walter in the Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced Trout Tying Classes. Brian developed a class teaching Tying and Fishing Terrestrials. Dean Campbell joined the group teaching beginners to tie bass flies and larger warmwater patterns. This class worked out well for "fumble fingers" because you learn on larger flies which are easier to tie. Dean also teaches a Streamer Class and Popper Class. Our classes are held here at the Fly Tying Center in a classroom designed specifically for teaching fly tying. The six hundred square foot classroom has special lighting, work stations and nice chairs for a comfortable day of tying. We furnish all tools, materials, books and even lunch. Our fly tying classes are fun and your instructors are dedicated and experienced people |
