Adams Variant
The Adams Variant is seeping in tradition and known to be a very effective dry fly for catching trout. This is a great attractor pattern that floats like a cork due to the highly hackled body.
The Adams Variant was originated by Fred Hall of Bryson City, North Carolina. It was designed and tested in the Great Smoky Mountains during the late 40’s and early 50’s. One common component to many successful dry flies in the Smokies is the color yellow. The Adams Variant has some yellow components. It works. Brook Trout love it.
