Elk Hair Caddis Yellow
The Elk Hair Caddis Yellow is an excellent Smoky Mountains pattern, especially when the Yellow Sally Stoneflies are on the water in late Spring and all Summer long. Trout mistaken this caddis for a stonefly. This is a very important Smokies fly.
There are many species of caddis in every shade of color and size you can think of. An Elk Hair Caddis is the perfect imitation for fishing fast, choppy water. This fly floats well and it is easy to see.
The Elk Hair Caddis is also useful when there are small stoneflies on the water. Having the right size Elk Hair Caddis in your box can prepare you for these hatches too. This fly has been used by anglers for 50 years. It originated in Pennsylvania and was first tied by Al Troth.
