Stimulator Yellow Dry Fly Barbless Hook

The Stimulator was designed by Randall Kaufmann. This dry fly offers a good representation of stoneflies, hoppers and caddis. The Yellow Stimulator is one of our top sellers for anglers who fish in the Smoky Mountains. In the size #16 this fly mimics the Yellow Sally Stonefly, a common aquatic insect found here in the late Spring and Summer.

The Stimulator is a good attractor pattern because it represents so many different foods found in trout streams. The fly floats well because of the full body hackle treatment. It works great in rough water and it is easy to see.

The Stimulator is used throughout the United States in the large sizes when big stoneflies are on the water.

This fly is tied on a barbless hook because that is the way Kaufman originally tied it. We buy these flies from Umpqua Feather Merchants. They are very well tied and durable.
