Bead Head Prince Nymph

The Bead Head Prince Nymph is one of the top ten nymphs sold at our store. For years, the Prince Nymph hailed as one of the best sub-surface trout flies in the Southern Appalachians and Great Smoky Mountains, sharing the title with the Tellico and Pheasant Tail nymphs. Adding the bead head later, gave the fly a different look and extra weight. The added sparkle of the bead attracts trout in off color or fast water.

This fly is used successfully year-round. Extra weight can be added using split shot to get the fly deeper and near the stream bottom, which is critical during the cold months. However, the Bead Head Prince Nymph works well during all seasons.

The Prince was designed to mimic a stonefly and is fished in sizes #8 to #18. Some anglers tie Prince Nymphs in even larger sizes. This is a great fly to have in your box on the stream no matter where you are fishing in freestone rivers.
