Bead Head Tellico Nymph

This is the original Tellico Nymph tied with a gold bead for weight and flash. The Bead Head Tellico Nymph is one of our best selling flies for many reasons, most importantly, they catch trout.

The Bead Head Tellico Nymph has a lot going for it in terms of being such a successful fly in the Southern Appalachians and the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. First, it is predominately yellow. Yellow has been considered the best color for use in the Smoky Mountains for decades. This is also a stonefly imitation. The Southern Appalachian streams have many species of gold and yellow stoneflies living here.

This fly pattern is also offered in a non-bead version that works best in low or clear water. The Bead Head and non-bead Tellico Nymph easily rates in the top five nymphs used in these mountain streams.
