Bead Head Hares Ear Natural

The Bead Head Hares Ear Natural is another of our best selling nymphs. Tied as a mayfly pattern, this is a year-round fly. Originally tied without a bead before they became popular, the Hares Ear nymphs has been a solid trout producer for decades.

One of the first things you notice about this fly is the fact it is scruffy. After this pattern is tied, the tyer uses a dubbing needle to pick out the hares mask guard hairs, giving the fly a buggy look. These guard hairs are supposed to depict legs. Most anglers believe this extra step just gives the fly a natural look.

The Bead Head Hares Ear is often tied in other colors including olive which works well. But, the most popular is the natural colored pattern, made using the face fur from a English Hare or rabbit.

Fish it deep, fish it shallow but of utmost importance, fish it often. This fly is a newer version of a traditional trout pattern.
