Little Yellow Stone
Later in the Spring and throughout the Summer, you will find Yellow Sally Stoneflies on the water in Southern Appalachian streams, including the Great Smoky Mountains. The Little Yellow Stone is one of the fly patterns we recommend during these times. We recommend this fly because our customers know the trout like this pattern too.
The Yellow Sally Stonefly hatch often occurs just before dark, when trout are less cautious. A surface feeding frenzy after the sun has fallen behind a mountain can make your day. We all love that hatch. Trout become accustomed to yellow stoneflies and also feed on them during the day. You never want to be without a Yellow Sally stone in the Smokies during the warmer months.
The Little Yellow Stone is easy to see. Seeing your fly is essential to catching trout on the surface. This fly also works well in rough choppy water because it is heavily hackled and floats well.
The Little Yellow Stone like all of our Yellow Sally Patterns is a must have that has paid off for many anglers who fish the Great Smoky Mountains National Park or anywhere in the Southern Appalachians.
