This reel is everything a budget-minded angler needs to land the fish of a lifetime. The Flystart series is coated with Ross’ proprietary AGP finish. This coating is incredibly strong and substantially more durable than any finish applied to competitive reels. The Flystart is a great reel for the first-time fly fishing participant that demands quality, but does not want to spend a fortune gearing up to fish.

Frame/Spool Material – High quality aluminum alloy

Manufacturing Specifications – Pressure-fed cast aluminum, 1 piece frame, 2 piece assembled spool, machine finished.

Drag Material – Delrin 500P – space-age polymer that is durable, heat resistant, self-lubricating and maintenance free.

Drag Mechanism – Delrin 500P interface – offset gear-to-gear disc drag with radial pawl engagement and seamless transition between line-in and drag engagement (no start-up friction).

Spool Rotation, Connection and Conversion – Oil impregnated bronze bushing rotation on a stainless steel spindle, quick release locking spool, easy left-hand to right-hand retrieve conversion.

Finish – Electrostatically coated with proprietary aerospace grade polyurethane (AGP) for the perfect balance of hardness and color.
