Welcome to the Fishing Report. Well, it’s 17 degrees this morning. And it will get colder than that tonight. Today’s high is expected to be 28 degrees. Winter is here. We got a dusting of snow last night too. More of that is coming this week. I’m longing for Spring in the worst way. Townsend is very quiet. Almost all the people here actually live here. This is typical for January after the New Years Holiday.
Little River is cold, freezing cold to be exact. Ice has formed in the slow pools in all the streams. I wouldn’t be surprised to find anchor ice in the lower elevations but for sure up high. If you go fishing don’t wade. You might fall in. Fish from the bank. Make roll casts. Use weight to get your flies down. Try a Clouser Minnow. Good luck and be careful.
Good news for the economy, “World’s Factories Rebound” according to the Wall Street Journal this morning. “In December factory production rose at it’s fastest pace in three years.” Rumor has it that automobiles sold extremely well in December, another indicator that we are climbing out of recession. Initial reports from Mastercard indicate an up year for retailers during the Holidays. Yesterday, the Dow climbed to over 10500, a 1.5% increase. That may fall today based on futures trading before the markets open.
We’ve got some exciting fly tying demonstrations and other special events planned for Saturdays this winter. They start next weekend. I’ll put a schedule on here and other places on our website by tomorrow. It’s too cold to fish. Might as well spend Saturdays here.
Have a great day and thank you for being here with us.
