Townsend, Tennessee - Great Smoky Mountains National Park

Welcome to the Fishing Report.  It is a clear frosty morning here in East Tennessee. The weather this weekend looks to be great. Clear skies and cool. Today is Veterans Day. Everyone here at Little River Outfitters wishes to send out our heartfelt thanks to all the brave men and women who have served our country over the years to protect our freedom.

Water temps dropped drastically overnight. My thermometer read 43F this morning at the Swinging Bridge in Townsend. Water temps in the higher elevations will be even cooler. The water was clear but I saw quite a few leaves. The flow is just slightly above normal at 1.8 feet or 148cfs. This is a great fishing flow.

Cold water means that early morning fishing is going to be tough. I would expect tougher fishing than normal this weekend as the moon shines bright and full. Nymphs with weight are going to be the best bet earlier in the day. Get those flies down towards the bottom. Prince nymph, Tellico, Copper Johns etc. Later in the afternoon maybe switch over to a dry / dropper set up as the water warms.

Our first fly tying class of the season is tomorrow. There is still a couple of spots open. You just need to give us a call today to sign up. The Beginner class is a great way to get started or just find out if fly tying is for you.

Well this report is delayed long enough. Have a great day and thank you for being here with us.
