View Full Version : Thanksgiving Float

I managed to get out in the boat for a day on the river while home for Thanksgiving. Conditions up in NY so far this year have been tough! The salmon season was a bust so we were really looking forward to getting out and chasing some steel. However, we discovered that early colder than normal temps had unfortunately been keeping the steelhead bite to a minimum but we still had a blast. Even with the extremely slow bite, all was forgotten when we managed to boat a 15lb beast.. You surely don't get to see those every day, regardless of the fishing conditions!! It was safe to say that 'Sally' definitely lifted our spirits... ;)

My monster for the day...

A nice fresh steelie...

Sally, the beast...!!

I've gotta get up there sometime. Yesterday, A buddy sent me a text of a giant brown caught in upstate NY and now you post this.

Hey thanks Breck,

You're looking at about 4.5 hours, depending on how fast you drive..
I believe you basically take 17 from down in that area over to Binghamton and then about 2 hours North to the river. Let me know if you need any additional info about giving it a try one day.
Congratulations on your son's acceptance to West Point! I always find that place very inspiring due to the history that it has seen...

Thanks for posting Kevin:biggrin:

Your fish of the day was bigger than my fish of the year:eek:

Weird to see you in a boat, but if that is what it takes to land Sally, I'd be in a boat too:smile:

Keep your post coming
