Sweet! Thanks for the tip.
Amazing writeup Jim - funny how this kind of report simultaneously makes me want to quit going up there out of discouragement and call off work tomorrow to give it another shot. Good stuff, man!!!

I never come here looking for recipes.... but I’m taking this one for sure!
I’m self-taught (i.e. glutton for punishment) and I have only ever taken one guided trip... with Josh Pfeiffer of frontier anglers. I split the cost with a buddy which made it less painful on the...
I've even caught a bunch of them (accidentally) on the Clinch behind the Anderson County jail. Be sure to check the release schedule though - there's been a lot of water ripping through there lately.
welcome! I used to live in “Florence Y’all” :)
Here’s a link to the drain down times at various access points. You’ll need to consider that along with the release info from the app. Good luck and stay safe.
Thanks for the report. I was able to get out for a couple of hours the day before, but headed up closer to Elkmont. I saw several trucks I think belonged to fly fisherman as soon as I hit Metcalf so...
Yeah man, those things are pretty nasty. I accidentally caught one in my solo canoe a few years ago and it slimed up half the floor... and stunk for ages no matter what I cleaned it with.
Thanks for the update. I was just getting on here to ask how your trip to the Clinch with the Compass 360s went.
Yep. Same.
Totally kidding - anyway... ducky told me one time, that the native trout will eat a cigarette butt if you drift it right!?! :Lol
I stumbled on this searching for stuff on Cheoah. One of the coolest posts I've ever seen on any fishing forum!

That's big fun! I'm ready to get after them next stormy day.
That's gonna be a blast! I've got an 8 wt that I use for both bass and some saltwater. It'll handle those flies fine and should be able to handle all but maybe the biggest stripers. Good luck!
Man... That's a great job, with nice, wet fish pics! Look forward to seeing more in the future.
That's great! I was just thinking how awkward (and hilarious) it would've been had your student been an older dude like the one you helped with his tube.
I bet if you dressed like this guy on the river those tubers would give you a bit more space:-)
Sweet. That's a handy piece of knowledge!
I wondered why you quit inviting me <grin>
Alright, now we're just getting crazy in here:)
I've thought about using those tiny trout magnet jig heads to tie some nymph-ish patterns. Has anyone tried this (and willing to admit it?)

Nice leg work there. Maybe you're the guy I should ask about a shuttle on the Holston or French Broad:) Mostly kidding I'm going to start a new thread for that request.

Excellent! That's 100% hookup ratio:) I'm headed to Edisto next week and have rented a house with a dock close to the North Edisto River. Even more excited after seeing this.
Thanks,
Todd Baker...
