I'm Going!
I gave up chest packs for a sling pack because I like to see where I am stepping in the stream.
Try 3M 5200 marine sealant and adhesive. Made primarily for boats, it comes in black or white. It is flexible and permanent so good luck ever getting it off in the future. Get it at Lowes, Academy...
Thanks bigsur! Got mine at the Cades Cove ranger office at the campground.
Thank you for the quick reply!
Is it necessary to have the Tellico permit if you are fishing the North River?
Great gathering for the 5th annual event! Kudos to Big Sur, Stana Claus, and all of the others who brought food, guaranteeing nary a glance went toward those cans of Vienna sausages! It was nice...
Funny the difference in perspective. It wouldn't be a delima for me at all. I would take supreme joy in the catch, and equal joy in the release. I would probably quit for the day.
Thanks Jay. I told her I thought it was still early yet. She lives in Sylva and she said her rhododendron blooms are already fallen. Came early there. I will pass your info to her.
Anyone know if the rhododendron is blooming yet on Kephart Prong. My sister wants to go there to photograph.
Sorry for duplicate post. Did not find delete function under edit.
My sister in N.C. hiked Kephart a month or two ago and made a mental note to come back and take pics of the Rhododendron in bloom. Does anyone know the status of the blooms in that area now? Thanks.

On the surface, this looks like a lot of fun, and the playing field should be somewhat level due to the "variations". The many great prizes are like gravy. This should be more than worth the entry...
A winter Smokies kayaker with a cold? Who woulda thought that?! Ducky, we fully expected you to paddle in for some of the great food. Sorry we missed you. Hope you are feeling better.
Kris,
Very nice fish! You paid your dues earlier in the day ;-). Glad to see your persistence paid off!
Happy New Year!
Well, I plan to spend amateur night (New Year's eve) at home watching football, sipping a Kentucky product, and maybe tying a couple of critters to drown at Metcalf Bottoms on Friday. How about you?
Same back to you Stana Claus! I echo your sentiments to all on the board!
PS: LOL Elkhaircaddis! That was good. Easter in Colombia.
Merry Christmas to Everyone!
Edit: Not sure why this turned up twice. Have two merry Christmases!
Merry Christmas to Everyone!
Just left BigSur an email that read:
"Hey man,
Leaving for Patagonia in an hour. If I don't talk to you again, have a Merry Christmas!"
I failed to mention that the proper translation for...
Nice post, Kevin! Clearly, you are as accomplished with the camera as with the fly rod. It was a great afternoon to be on the stream with great company.
Matt, thanks to you and Bigsur for your sincere concern for my well being. I actually tumbled up the hill on the ascent when my toe caught a root as I stepped up. I know to toss the rod aside if it...
Quoted from Bigsur: "This hat has never been officially worn by Lefty Kreh, Robert Clouser, or any respectable angler!"
As the inaugural "winner" of this hat, and being present at subsequent Karma...
The first time I visited LRO, I wasn't a fly fisherman yet. My family was camping at what is now the KOA, and it was a warm summer day. LRO was in the old location where Subway is. I took my 3 little...
