totally agree, the only time I've been able to use dark lines was while floating, standing up where I could see it. I haven't used one in years though, something about getting older:confused:

Benchside, Beginning Fly Tying. It's the best $45 spent for someone wanting to learn. I always recommend it before purchasing anything else. I like the Thompson A vice, tied on one for 20+ years,...
Same here, I started it this week, I read during my lunch break, it has my interest so far.
Jim,
It takes a Gentleman to share his patterns like this, you've surpassed with flying colors for sharing.

Rise with one unit
Lancaster-35 minutes
Happy Hollow-2 hrs
Betty's Island-3 hrs
Fall out @3500 is typically double the rise time, if they run for more than a few hours, it can take longer. If...
I love the NZ indicator, still remember the day Barry brought the kit in for me to try. I was still guiding at the time & thought it was the Nirvana of indicators, still do. I bought a pack of...
That's your call & a major reason for tying, tweak or leave it as is.
Not a blame thing, have more gear, materials & no time for either:redface: I need some dry weather & low water, I could persuade myself to be irresponsible for a few days then.
Feedback: you got a good deal. I know nothing of the rod, hope someone chimes in about it. I've cast & fished a few over the years & have several of their reels. I think they're highly overlooked in...
I fish a couple of 3 wt rods in the smaller streams, I have 4 weight lines on them to turn over the shorter distance casting easily, with a 5 wt bamboo, no problems at all. That's what works for me....
I know this is late, if you scroll to the past 48 hours, you can see what the discharge has been. If the 5000CFS isn't showing up, it's a safe bet they aren't using it. It's still a gamble though...
I've used a Manfrotto tripod for those kind of things, as Shawn suggested, weight it down if you are setting it up in current & watch your back cast:eek:
Pretty much what EHC said & they won't make your butt look to big(insert smiley here).

That is a good looking rod.

A hook & card of chenille & tie on stream as needed;)

Cat Crap, sounds terrible, it's actually an anti fogger.

The BVK or Mangrove are two good rods, the redesigned Clouser falls in there as well, an Orvis Access reel would round out to a nice outfit.
I hope you have access to a shop to cast different rods,...
How much do you want to spend? I'd head to a flyshop & cast as many as they have in the price range you're thinking about.
With today's rods, you could be happy with a $200 rod or $800.

Same thing walking down the street in the city, always be aware of your surroudings.

Sling Pack get's my vote!
Brings back memories, surprisingly i'm still here.

hungNtree, i'll go against the grain here, although i do wear boot's/neo socks in the mountains.
I've been wearing rubber soled boot's for a number of years & haven't killed myself in the mountains...
I've nuked them, then froze them. The Woolite will soften the stems up, they can become brittle after many years.

Happy Birthday from the gang here at CT Byron;)

8:34 PM, are you time traveling? Good looking fish for sure.
