Agreed. The fee is a bit much now, but for me it's not too bad as I'll likely only fish it once a year at best if 'm in the area. And usually for just a day.

Willingness to try something different also such as fishing places you might think the fish " are not" under different water conditions. Recently went and fished some moderately high water...

I don't fish the Smokies a lot. Living on the gulf coast it's hard not to go out west. Not really practical for me to fly to the Smokies. Though I do need to venture further north in to Virginia...
I think the most important question is where are you located and/or how far are you willing to travel to meet and fish? Kind of hard to offer help other than suggestions not knowing.
