Love to go back to Sam's Creek. I "guided" several years with a boy that attended Trout Camp. We were fortunate to limit out at seven brookies. We used an elk hair caddis for all fish. Love those...

Looked at the report and flow and temps look decent but has anyone fished the park recently? Looking for on-the-water report? Looking long range at a trip to the park. Thanks.
My friend saw this brown trout about 10-12 years ago. I often wonder what lurks on the bottom of any lake, river or stream. Good fodder for a science fiction tale. People fish one deep hole on the...
Don's book lists the brown as 12-1/2 lbs. This was the 1985 edition of his book. Haven't heard of anything bigger. BTW, I caught brookies on up the MPLR.
I was fishing with a friend who saw a big...
Thanks. Saw pictures of the mess last year. People ignoring No Parking signs, parking anywhere, trash, etc.
The record brown, according to Kirk's book, was caught in the Middle Prong. One of the biggest trout I have caught was in a small stream; 12 inch rainbow out of a pool no bigger than a bathtub.
Just have to miss the hatch. Have local places to catch carp on the skinny stick. Thursday or Friday is looking good. Looking to take the grandson to the Tellico area next week if he doesn't have...
Yep, nothing is hidden these days with Google Earth Pro, topo maps, etc. Sam's Creek and others feeding the MPLR are on my park trail maps. Not hidden by a long shot.
Middle Prong of Little River; go to the Y and turn right toward Cades Cove, take the road to the left toward the Tremont educational center. Actually, the first time I fished the MP, I started...
Thanks. Need to dust off the canoe. Guide isn't in the budget these days.
OK, where???? Love to catch carp on the fly rod. Thanks. Anyone want to share some time on the water? I don't have a boat but will help with boat expenses. I live in Cleveland, TN, BTW. No cicada...
Where???? Pleeeze? I need to get the fly rod out and exercise it on carp. Haven't seen any around Cleveland yet.
I would think that Don's book covers the main creeks, etc., in the park. I recall a fellow telling of another creek, Cole Creek, but again, it's not in the book or on a park map.
Is this in the park? Don Kirk's book doesn't mention Meadow Branch. Curious.
Haven't seen any here in Cleveland, TN.
Several years ago, I saw one drop into the Hiwassee where I had picked up a 17 inch rainbow. The critter drifted out of sight and not one fish of any kind rose to take it.
Pheasant tail will work. One of the most versatile flies you can tie and put in the water. Cast it an hang on!
ehc, I wish I was young again. Would change a few things as fishing more.
Good day. Need to get up to the park. What did you catch the bug on?
Thanks. That's a ride and a half. Neighbor in Louisiana used to ride about 25-26 miles every Saturday morning. I used to have an Italian bike. The best part was the 5 HP engine.
I recall that the CC loop was only for bikers for part of Wednesday and Saturday. Did this change?
Thanks for the info.
Edit- I have Dropbox but it would require moving photos from the file to DB then on to the forum. Would be nice if one could download photos directly from the files to the...
What is a hosting site?
Got Don's book about 25 years ago. Saw him at the 2018 FFing expo in Atlanta and got his autograph. Interesting and great detail. As to the park, so much water so little time. My two brookies were...
Only fished a small section not far from the parking lot. Yes, Jay gave a lot of info from his experiences there. Thanks, Jay. Looking to fish some other places. My "weakness" is brook trout. First...
Actually, two questions here. First, is there a good time to fish the Horseshoe on Abrams Creek? I have a hatch chart for reference. I understand it takes all day to fish the entire length. Due to...
