LoL Nice. Nuthin' like a good cougar mauling.
Seriously though, I've spent LOTS of time in the woods fishing, hunting, and camping, and I've never once seen a bobcat. I know they exist and they...
DUDE! Did you at least snap photos with your phone?
I think it's possible that the "Eastern Mountain Lion" is extinct and that the ones being seen are other varieties that have either migrated...
Well, off topic or not, that was a timely post, SilverCreek. Heard this on NPR yesterday on my drive home...
Endangered Cougars Could Be Making a Comeback
Sitting at my desk laughing my a$$ off!
All our fish got killed off by a big snipe hatch last year... not much fishin' going on these days ;-)
Seriously though, good advice above. Go by Little River Outfitters (skip the Orvis store,...
Don't forget about Twenty Mile... that's another option as well.
That's awesome, Rod!!! Glad you guys had a good time, and good on ya for knowing when to call it quits and keeping it fun.
Not good. I wonder what the environmental impact will be? That's high enough that it will impact a lot of relatively unspoilt water.
I've never slept in a bivy, but I've laid down in one a buddy had laid out and didn't like it at all. A hammock with a rain fly at least gives you a "shelter" and there's very little weight penalty...

That spring fever is setting in!!! Thanks for sharing.
Ha! Good story =)
Very cool! Thanks for sharing. Pick up an undercover for that hammock and it'll sleep a lot warmer =)
DUDE, awesome post.
Maybe you should start with a nice ceviche and work your way up to the fresh sashimi ;-)
Regardless, trout are readily available to the culinary world, and you NEVER find trout on the menu in...
OR you could use your ninja fly fishing skills to sneak up and steal their corn while they're watching their bobber in the honey hole...
Just a word of caution... "the gorge" area is really rugged and you should be super careful and well prepared if you fish that alone. Also, there are very few convenient ways to get out of the river...
DUDE! I just saw this post today. That's a beast of a walleye! Thanks for sharing. How'd the Chicken Man do?
All good advice here. Be sure to dress the part, think like a ninja, and try to get the most natural drift possible.
Drop a leaf in the stream and watch how it drifts along... it doesn't cast a...
Trout magnets will work well. Go for the green weenie color and throw on a little split shot if it's too light to cast.
Give me a hickory stick and a deputy badge and I'll gladly help with enforcement duty!
Jim, you always amaze me with your knowledge of local history. I hope those among my generation that share your interests (such as Grannyknot!) keep the history alive.
As an aside to Rainbow...
Cousin Eddy musta been at Elkmont last weekend.
