I mostly use my 9ft 2/3wt (2-piece) that I built. It is suuuper light and so much better in every way than my 7'6" 2wt. I do like the 7'6" if I'm hiking and want to bring a rod because it's a 4pc....

I mostly use my 9ft 2/3wt (2-piece) that I built. It is suuuper light and so much better in every way than my 7'6" 2wt. I do like the 7'6" if I'm hiking and want to bring a rod because it's a 4pc....
I have a full flex (5:5) 12ft Motsugo tenkara rod that is SUPER light (1.2oz), it's lighter than my 7ft 2wt TFO Finesse. I still fish weighted nymphs with it all time! Almost always a tungsten bead...
Those are my least favorite people. I get it if there's a mysterious dude walking around on your property, but if you live ON the river, and there's a woman, in the middle of the day, fly fishing,...
My buddy is a striper guide in Knoxville, he fishes mostly on the Clinch below Melton Hill dam down to the Galaher Rd bridge. He says they are always there from spring to fall. I went with his a...
I plan on doing this, but do I need to have a good way to measure my fish and take a phone pic of each of them?
Haha, yeah she's a trooper! At least they are the older Vibram IrdoGrip soled Chacos, so it's the same rubber as Korkers and Simms (and some others) wading boots, they are super grippy on slick rocks!
If there is room in the water to fish weighted nymphs, I fish them! I don't think anybody would disagree that you'd catch more fish on the weighted version of a given fly on something like Little...
Went with my wife to Porter's Creek and convinced her to go down off the cliff into the “gorge”! I had always seen the water down there, but never had time to actually do it. When I go to Porters...
I have caught a bunch of trout on dries in the rain, but I usually don't do it because it's hard enough to track a #16 dry when it's NOT raining haha! I also go fishing for smallmouth on my lunch...
Thanks for the comments, everybody! I hope to keep tying and fish a bunch this year! I'll try to keep the posts coming!

This is kind of a long post, but I saw somebody looking for more fishing reports, so here goes! It’s just a fishing report/tips from a non-pro local. I have fished quite a bit this year and have also...
I'm with David on the leader being the length of the rod or less. I'm way too cheap to buy tapered leaders and I cry too hard when I break them. On my 9' 2/3wt, I usually use 6ft of 6lb moss green...
Thanks, Joe!
Hey, everybody! This is my first interesting post here lol. I figure as much as I lurk these threads about fishing in the park, I should contribute something since I've been doing a lot of it lately!...
I need some help getting a striper setup together. I am going striper fishing with my friend sometime next week and he has never fished for them with a fly rod. I have an 8wt rod and pretty decent...
Awesome, Don! Thanks! I'll send you an email!
I'm building a rod and accidentally skipped a guide mark I made. So, now I have a gap between my stripper guide and the next guide up. I need to put a size 3 there but I've already wrapped all my...
Yeah! Those would be cool. It's a long float but, depending on the flow schedule, it's would be great for a float like that. We got out of our canoe quite a bit to take a break when a good hole came...
We went out there a couple years ago and stayed at His Place Resort. They have cabins ($90-120) and tent sites (we tent camped). We rented a canoe for the for $65/day and they took us up to the dam...
