Back at it huh? I like to know who appointed you the GOD of spec streams in WNC? Hardly anyone posts detailed info about spec streams on here anymore, yet you're back lecturing people about this time...

Corbo,
I have moved to Greeneville, TN. I'll be fishing the SOHO more often since I cut my distance in half. Shoot me an email if you and Rick want some company on a trip to the SOHO. I don't...
Maybe we should call this the "Local Yokels" forum? Only the born and raised experts should be allowed to post fishing reports. I have to agree, but for different reasons. Reading posts like yours...
I would consider the Natahala River. There is the DH water above the power plant, and the area below the plant. You would need to check on the generation schedule before attempting fishing below the...
Thanks for the info troutslayer. I have done the streamer thing on the tailwaters or any trout water very much. I'll to give it a try when I move closer to the SOHO.
Neal
Nicely done. Can I ask what type of streamers you used? I will be Moving to Greeneville, TN in a few weeks. Looking forward to being closer to the SOHO and other streams in that area.

You may want to try an emerger pattern if you can't get them on a dry. I have had decent success with Hugh Hartsell's sulfur and BWO emerger patterns when they were refusing a dry.
Neal
got2fish,
I would also consider Tremont (Middle Prong Little River). The WPLP along Newfound Gap would be pretty cold IMO, never fished it this late in the year, but I would focus on lower...
Wild Guess. He ate his Wheaties every dang day:biggrin:

Shawn,
I admire your ethical approach to boating and fishing on tailwaters. I also think it's cool that you are desgning a different boat for fishing these rivers. I wish you the best of success...
Shawn,
That reminds me of a similar even several years ago on the Holston River @ Nances Ferry. I was fishing up above the first shoals, no one else was around. I noticed a fella launching a small...
Shawn,
I mainly fish the Clinch between the end of Miller's and Massengill Bridge. I haven't caught many browns in the last year of fishing that area, only a few in fact, where the previous year...
Shawn,
I was just kidding around, I understood what you meant as your posts used to revolve more around your boat trips. I don't take all this too seriously, especially the forum stuff anymore, I...
[I have only drifted the Clinch about 30 times this year and the lower end has been sparse in trout density]
Only thirty? I really feel your pain Shawn:p

Lynn,
Note on Jacobs Creek, I stayed there Friday and Saturday nights. They will be shutting off the water, etc. on October 11th. You can still camp there for $6 bucks a night till the first week...
Hmm,
What is the fine for wearing felts? If they come up with a better material I will consider trying it, I have tried a few alternatives and haven't been impressed with the results on mountain...
David, David, always thinking about monster brown trout;)
Neal
Seems like a good strategy using eggs etc. from fish that have been in the river a while. If this was done every year, wouldn't the fingerlings gradually be better adapted to living and thriving in...
[And one last little tidbit, if money is so tight with regards to the trout program why in the **** are they still dumping brook trout in the Clinch? They don't seem to survive or really do anything...
One good defense is that hemlocks grow near water so that aids in their ability to defend themselves. It's like the southern pine beetle from 2000-2004 east Tennessee lost ~75% of all yellow pine....
Lynn,
Jacobs Creek is pretty close to Beaverdam on South Holston Lake. I haven't stayed there, I have stayed at Little Oak which is on the south side of the lake.

...
Will do, I really like Bryson City and Deep Creek. Much more relaxed on the side of the spine IMO and the fishing is pretty decent as well. Haven't been down there since the week of July 4th. looking...
Good report. I plan on heading there in the morning for a couple nights.
Neal
Well done. Can tell by the look on his face that he his hooked on flyfishing for mountain trout.
Neal
Interesting, I wasn't aware that the road had been moved in that area. Thanks for telling that you started fishing that area a year before I was born:p I feel like a "spring chicken" this...
