Default Pre -Memorial Day weekend outings part 1

Took a couple of weekday evening trips wading for bream recently and found a couple of nice fish . The first was a Citation 20" Smallmouth , I caught on my 4wt glass rod while wading.

Two days later , I found a nice one fishing the stealth bomber.

    Memorial day weekend.
I took a couple of trips to the river this weekend for some exploration and to spend the day with my daughter who is graduating from High school today.
Saturday morning , I left for the river about 0630 with the jon boat I hooked up the night before.

The air was cool and the clouds were pretty as the sun was rising.

The river flow was dropping from the previous day's generation , so I was excited to throw some poppers at some good looking spots in shallow flats. I hooked up pretty quickly and my first fish of the day turned out to also be a citation Smallmouth at 20.5".

I retied the popper and started casting again , and hooked up with another Smallie. This one was 18".

Caught several more throughout the day, but nothing over 16". Great day to be on the river, even when just kickin back and enjoying a cold ice tea and lunch while anchored under a shade tree.

Nice looking trips, it always amazes me how dark green the Smallies are there as opposed to a lighter almost golden color here in my local water. Anyway they are beautiful fish, and you can't say enough for some father/ daughter time on the water!! Mine went with me last week and I loved every minute of it.
