    Default Escape

I posted this years ago. I read it again this morning because I really need an escape. It has been tooooooo long!
    Escape

She runs as fast as she can
Down the rugged grade to the flats below
Around the stones forgotten, left behind by time
Marking her way she rings out music
Not music of man but of nature
She dashes to and fro jumping for joy at her freedom
The canopy of green provides rest from the sun
And she roars ever more as the grade increases
She is a grand ole lady full of life
Rushing ahead as though someone awaits
at the end of her journey, yet no one is there
She carries within her a world of life
They take from her all they need
And give back only their own no more
Insects, crustaceans, and trout call her home
I sit by her side, listen and admire
I play in her pools fooling her trout
She gives me peace, an escape from life.

    Default Needing an escape

    buzzmcmanus,

Thanks for your reply. It has been a tough year for fishing. Either we have too much water or not enough. I was going Tuesday afternoon, but they started releasing 1,700 cfs below Tim's Ford dam. I really need a trip to some water.

    Don,
What do you need to escape from? All you do is fish

    Default I only wish

    Flyman,

Great to hear from you. I truly wish all I had to do was fish. My fishing has been very limited this year. I am heading to the mountains this afternoon though and to Montana on the 22nd. I can't wait to get on the road. There have been some pretty significant changes with my work situation that have really limited my time on the water. Hopefully, that will ease a little going forward so I will be able the spend at least 10% of the time you are able to spend on the water.

Hope you have a good time Don. Where are you going in MT? I am headed that way in early Oct for 2 or 3 weeks.

    Default Sorry Flyman

    Flyman,

I am so sorry. I just saw your post. I went to Missoula. That is where I usually go. We had a good trip. We caught a lot of fish as usual, caught some 20 inch fish, and a couple over 20 inches. I am going to Yellowstone in August and back to Missoula the end of July in 2016. Right now, I need a fishing trip, and I am planning to head to Arkansas on the 26th of this month.

    Don,
We hammered em on the Madison, Yellowstone, Gallatin, and Gibbon. We also had access to a couple lesser know streams off the beaten path. My son is spending his winters from late Sept /early October to May in Bozeman. So that has made the fall decision of where to go easy the last couple years. I am going to try and plan a trip to WY this summer. He works on a wilderness trails crew out of Lander. 8 days out and 6 days off. I am hoping we can maybe fish the upper Green or the Snake. I'm ready, I have really done less fishing locally the last couple years than I have in a long time.

I think we should form a fisherman's union and protest! I, too, can never find time or energy, work has me so tied down 90% of the time and stressed out when I do finally get a day or two in a row.

    Thanks for sharing!

    Default Yes

    Flyman,

I am glad you had a good trip. I would love any advice about Yellowstone. That is a real plus to have a son out there.

    Bran,

I am all in. I am 57 and it seems I have less time and have more pressure and stress every year. What can we do?😂
