    Default Question About Seasons

I know that fishing is allowed all year long in the GSMNP, but is trout fishing legal in other parts of Tennessee outside of the Park all year? Or are there regular fishing seasons like in other states?

There are some streams with closed days, DH, etc. I know on the SoHo there are certain sections of the river closed during spawning season.

You need to read the regs.

Good call jay. I rarely end up fishing delayed harvest streams, etc, so it wasn't even on my radar. I'll try not to slip like that again.

There's also a few other nuances to the fishing regs in TN. South Cherokee NF has Thursdays and Fridays closed, unless there is a recognized holiday that week. I think Citico may be the same, but I haven't fished Citico in years. Also too, in the South Cherokee, when the DH is on, you don't have to buy the daily permit. Gatlinburg also has some particulars to it as well.

In short, you have to read the trout section in the TWRA guide to be legal.
