    Default Hunting for Stripers

    Hey everyone,

I've had the big fish itch recently and want to start getting after some stripers. The only problem with this is that I have absolutely no experience doing so. Are stripers currently running up the clinch? If so, any tips on how/where to fish my shad and small trout imitations? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!

My buddy is a striper guide in Knoxville, he fishes mostly on the Clinch below Melton Hill dam down to the Galaher Rd bridge. He says they are always there from spring to fall. I went with his a couple years ago in May and we caught a TON of them on shad jigged from the bank to the boat! I hooked into one on my 8wt with a big white/red clouser and fought it for about 10 minutes, it blasted my drag and I had to use my hand/jeans to slow it down. It eventually got my line wrapped into some sunken trees and the fly slipped out. I want to land one on a fly really bad! I got out fished by my wife and sister, but I'll take it any day!

IsaacMTSU, nice fish. Those would be a blast to catch on a fly rod. Thanks for the info, I'll post back if I have any success.
