    TODAY'S VIDEO
    "Sea Trout on Dry Fly"

We are crossing the North Atlantic today to Denmark chasing sea trout in streams not much bigger then a Texas roadside ditch. Casting dry flies primarily foam beetles on tight water these two young men strip them like streamers making a V pattern which reminds me of slinging mice patterns. Notice in some parts where they are using stripping baskets because of the thick
vegetation on the bank. Note there are English subtitles as they speak in their native language but you need no translation when their faces speak the universal language of hooking a big trout. Enjoy!

    Default Today's Video 5-1-2020

"Just like everyone else we are excited to know we are just days away
from gaining access though with possibly limited options back in the Park.
Until then here is a fresh as today's catch video released just two days ago from
a guide I follow in New Zealand. They just ended a 5 week lockdown and were
chomping at the bit to also get out. These two guides catch big trout that get progressively
bigger as the film goes on. We are talking big New Zealand honkers Enjoy!"

    Default Today's Video- "Cataloochee"

"Many of us are excited to see the Park reopening but also a little gun-shy of the potential for larger crowds than usual.

All concentrated in a smaller area as not all of the Park will be accessible at once. I probably may wait a week or so to let the crowd thin out and as always try to be smart, be a good neighbor and most importantly keep my distance from others fishing."

The past six weeks or so we have been posting here and on the Great Smoky Mountain TU Facebook fishing videos from around the world. Just a little way to break up the day to day monotony of COVID-19 news and staying at home. "Today's Video" will close out the series and here's hoping everyone will get out and start posting their own angling adventures!

This one today is special, it is from John Eagerton a fellow TU member who gave me permission to post. John has a love for Cataloochee just like us and has put together a great video tour of Cataloochee. Even though he is from Alabama we welcome him to the Great Smoky Mountains brotherhood!
All kidding aside I think it is a perfect way to close out the video series as life returns to normal.

Please keep in mind I spoke with the Park officials today and the Cataloochee side of the Park will be assessed for opening on or after May 21, 2020 as road construction is still underway. Enjoy the video and thanks again to John Eagerton!

    **ORNL DESIGNS FISH**

Sometimes truth is stranger then fiction, here is a story from right here in Tennessee. Of course this begs so many questions...best artificial fly to catch artificial fish?...Is there a limit on artificial fish?...Does my trout stamp cover artificial fish?....Should I use a 6wt tippet??

I cannot wait till the first report of someone trying to eat an artificial fish...are they best grilled or smoked? Strange times indeed, enjoy the beautiful day!

The weekend everyone has been hoping for is finally here. The main roads are open in the Smokies and some tailwaters have dialed back the faucet!

Stop by our local flyshops who support us all year, grab some gear and hit the water. Be sure and post your pics here and enjoy the day.

"THANKS FOR THE PICS KEEP 'EM COMING."
    **POST YOUR PICTURES HERE!**
The first pics are in and really highlight the diversity of our area. The first one is from Charlie Smith, a GSM TU member who has fished around the world as well as here at home. This is a beautiful muskie from Saturday morning on the lower Clinch River with guide Jon Oody.

The second is a colored up rainbow from TU member Kris Nichols on the upper Clinch River also on Saturday. I caught up and fished with Kris later Saturday afternoon on the lower part of the Clinch.

The third pic is fro Derrick Douthat, a GSM TU chapter member of a fat rainbow a Clinch River beauty.

Great job guys! Hope to see some Smoky Mountain catches from this weekend!

**CHECK OUT THE GREAT SMOKY MOUNTAIN TU FACEBOOK LINK BELOW FOR MORE PICS! THANKS!**
