Waterworks Lamson Litespeed Series IV Fly Fishing Reel Reels
Waterworks Lamson’s Litespeed fly fishing reel has been and still is one of the smoothest, mechanical mechanisms ever mounted to a fly rod. Precision machining and porting, aluminum and stainless steel at the plant in Idaho, accomplishes the goal of making one of the finest fly reels in America. The maker call it the “thoroughbred of the Lamson line”.
This is the new Lamson Litespeed Series IV, a vast improvement over the earlier models.
The new Litespeed Series IV features an even higher retrieve rate, better ergonomics and easier line management, while also reducing mass. Using narrower drag geometry, the spool is flatter with less surface, reducing knuckle drag. The drag knob is more aggressive. The arbor is curved, stores backing into a “diameter well” and kees your working line at a maximum radius to optimize what we all love about large arbor reels.
Like all Waterworks Lamson reels, their fully sealed conical drag comes standard. This is one of the best drag systems on the market and it used on every one of their reels. Please view the illustration below of the conical drag and description. This drag was invented by Waterworks Lamson and it is patented. It is totally different from any fly reel drag you have seen. It works beautifully and is sealed to keep grit, water and salt out.
The Hard Alox finish is beautiful. Just holding a Lamson Waterworks reel in your hand, assures, you bought one of the finest fly fishing reels you can own. Compare the Litespeed to other fly reels. They are worth the extra money.
