Rob Fightmaster Saturday January 10th 10:00 am - 2:00 pm

Rob grew up in Lexington, KY where he fished and guided on the Cumberland River as well as numerous Central KY smallmouth streams. With over fifteen years in the fly fishing industry as a guide, instructor, fly tyer, retailer, and consultant he is the owner of Fightmaster Fly Fishing, a business that provides fly fishing and consulting services for sporting properties internationally.  He is currently contracted with two businesses in the United States and one in British Columbia.  He also runs a fly fishing guide business, providing trips primarily in the Great Smoky Mountains as well as on the Holston and Clinch Rivers. Stan Smartt Bamboo Rod Building Seminar
Saturday January 10th 10:00 am - 2:00 pm

Stan was one of the first modern day bamboo rod makers to settle in the Townsend area. He has taught many people the art and craft of splitting bamboo and turning out a fine fishing rod. You will enjoy his demonstration even if you never intend to make rods. Or you might be interested in learning. There are many bamboo rod makers in East Tennessee thanks to Stan. He has taught several week long classes and his students leave with their own cane rod. He is also an excellent fly angler and overall great guy. You will enjoy some time with Stan. We do!

Tim Doyle Sunday January 11th 12:30 pm - 4:30 pm

Tim is a guide in Great Smoky Mountains National Park and on tailwater and lakes in the area. He has been fishing here since he was a child. Tim is an excellent fly tyer who has demonstrated his talents here since we opened the shop 15 years ago. Tim knows a lot about the history and wildlife, plants and fish in the Smokies. His demonstrations and time spent with him as a guide are always a treat for everyone. Here is Tim's Website.

Sarah Weeks - Saturday January 17th 10:00 am - 2:00 pm

Sarah has fly fished in the Smokies, the area tailwaters and in the Rockies. She started here at the Little River Outfitters School. People love to watch her tie flies and talk about her fly fishing experiences. Sarah is the Director for Development at Friends of the Smokies. Drew Delashmit - Saturday January 17th 10:00 am - 2:00 pm

Drew is a native of the area and a graduate of the University of Tennessee. He was also a founding member of the Little River Chapter of Trout Unlimited though he was only 15 years old at the time. He worked in the shop when he was in college. For the past 10 years he has worked full time as a guide in Key West, Florida. Drew guides clients for bonefish, permit and tarpon. He knows how to tie flies to catch these fish and he will explain how he does it. Here's Drew's website.

Hugh Hartsell Sunday January 18th - CANCELLED DUE TO ILLNESS. HE'S GOING TO BE FINE.

Hugh is a guide in the Smokies and on the tailwaters in East Tennessee. He has been an avid fly fisherman all his life and a professional guide for several years. He has devised his own patterns that work well both in the mountains and on the larger rivers. He is kind enough to share that information with you. Of course if you know Hugh, you know he doesn't mind helping others. He is known for that. You will enjoy this day with this fine fly tyer and person. Jack Gregory Saturday January 24th 10:00 am - 2:00 pm

Jack is one of the best fishermen in the Smokies. We think he is one of the best fishermen anywhere. He grew up fishing the Smokies but has extensive experience all over the country and in Belize. Jack has spent long trips, over 20 to Yellowstone National Park. He knows that park well. He loves to catch Permit. He has that figured out. You will enjoy watching him tie flies and talk to him about his many experiences over the last 40 some odd years as a fly fisherman and tyer. Jack serves on the Executive Committee for Troutfest 2009.

Dave Carson Saturday January 31st 10:00 am - 2:00 pm

Dave is a guide in Great Smoky Mountains National Park. He has been demonstrating fly tying here and in Georgia. Dave was one of the leaders who established East Tennessee Fly Fishers a club sponsored by the Fly Fishing Federation. His specialty is tying realistic patterns. Dave is also a graduate of the Joan Wulff Fly Fishing Instructors School. He is an accomplished teacher for both fly fishing and fly tying.

Walter Babb Saturday January 31st 10:00 am - 2:00 pm

Get ready to learn about tying trout flies from one of the masters. Walter has been fly fishing and tying flies for over 50 years. You will learn from him by watching and listening. Come in the shop Saturday morning and get a cup of coffee. Then join the others as Walter explains why the flies work, how to tie them and how to fish with them. You will also hear some funny stories.

Walter teaches fly tying and beginner fly fishing at Little River Outfitters. When he is not doing that, he makes fine custom bamboo fly rods for people like you. The demonstration starts at 10:00 am and lasts until 2:00 pm.
