Anglers are talking about rubber soles these days.  And many will make the choice to get away from felt soles and switch to rubber.  Felt is an excellent boot bottom.  It sticks to the rocks well and it has been used for years.  But, felt takes a long time to dry and it is a harder to disinfect that other materials.
