Little River Outfitters has been in business since 1994. The store and school occupies a 7,000 square foot facility in Townsend, Tennessee. Townsend is a center for East Tennessee fly fishing. It is located near the Great Smoky Mountains, many tailwaters, Cherokee National Forest and several TVA impoundments. In fact the entrance to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park is only two miles from the store. Teaching beginners to fly fish is a specialty of the school. Every instructor is a graduate of the Joan Wulff Instructors School located in New York. Also, beginner, intermediate, advanced and specialty fly tying is offered at the school. Additionally there is a very popular Aquatic Entomology Class taught by Dr. Brad Cook, a professor at Tennessee Tech University. Several hundred different individuals attend classes at the school annually. Little River Outfitters sells a large range of fly fishing tackle with a price tag for everyone. Fly rods are available from companies such as Sage, Orvis, Temple Fork, Sage, St. Croix, Winston, Scott and Cortland. Reels are available from Bauer, Hardy, Orvis, Tibor, Abel, Waterworks/Lamson and Ross. Little River Outfitters is also well known for its fly tying department, one of the largest and most complete in this part of the country. Our strength is in our staff. Currently we have 14 full and part time people working here. Every staff member is avid about fly fishing. We are known for our friendly folks and there is an expert around if you need one whether you are angling for trout, bass, redfish, bonefish, permit or tarpon. We know how to rig you for the species you are targeting. We sell and rig rods from 1 weight to 12 weight. Our mail order service is popular.
