Troutfest Update

The Little River Chapter of Trout Unlimited fundraiser for Great Smoky Mountains National Park is not far off. The Banquet will he held on Friday May 15th. The Fly Fishing Exposition will be on May 16th and 17th. All proceeds from the Banquet/Auction and the Fly Fishing Exposition benefit the Fisheries Department projects including native brook trout restoration. This year Troutfest is loaded with talent and these people will be at the banquet with you and there to teach all whole weekend throughout the Expositon. You will meet Randy Hamilton, Lefty Kreh, Kent Edmonds, Joe Humphreys, Bob Clouser, Kevin Howell, Roger Lowe and many other professional anglers. Owners and staff from many of the National Manufacturers will be here.

The Fly Tying Tent will be a busy activity center. There over 40 fly tyers will be demonstrating their skills in shifts of ten people throughout the weekend. A weekend pass to the tent costs $10 and it all goes to benefit the Park.

Fly Fishing Getting Started On a Budget

Our beginner fly fishing classes are offered twice each month from March through October. Aquatic Entomology for Anglers with Dr. Brad Cook are also very popular. Observations from the Tailwaters

There is some great information here that might help you become a better tailwater angler. Tennessee is blessed with many miles of trout water below these dams. Tailwater trout fishing is an important sport to all who fish in this state.

He writes about Slickrock Creek, backpacking with his good friend Richard who many of us know and about Richard's fly fishing skill which we also know about.
